Pre-Payment Information: 

For certain offenses you may waive your court appearance and prepay the fine and costs. Payment must be received in our office at least 5 days prior to your court date. You may not prepay the fine and costs if the charge was reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, driving while intoxicated. Please note: If you prepay a fine, that will be considered an admission of guilt and a waiver of your hearing.

If you decide to waive your right to a trial and prepay your ticket; you may choose from the following options:

  • Personal Check: Send a copy of the summons with your payment. Personal checks are accepted and should be made payable to General District Court.
  • Online Credit Card Payment: Tickets can be paid online through the State of Virginia web site. See Directions for online payment.

Processing fees are assessed whether are not you appear in court. Processing fees are sixty six ($66) per traffic stop. If you receive two or more tickets at the same time, there is only one processing fee of $66 for the first ticket and $15 for each additional ticket.

If you choose not to prepay your ticket, you must appear in court.
