Used Cell Phones Collected to Aid Victims of Domestic Violence
The Commission for Women collects used cell phones to help victims of domestic violence in partnership with Verizon Wireless’ Hope Line program, which collects used wireless phones and equipment and refurbishes or recycles them for resale. Funds raised are then contributed to nonprofit domestic violence shelters and prevention programs across the region. Victims of domestic violence also receive donated phones and airtime through this program. Cell phones can be left in the Human Services office, Room 316, Fairfax City Hall.
