The project team is hosting an open house at the Sherwood Community Center to receive input and answer questions about the draft Neighborway Design Guidelines and the proposed concepts for the Plantation Parkway Neighborway.

Can't make the event? Materials will be shared virtually following the event — and the city will provide additional opportunities in the future to share feedback about the draft guidelines and concepts. 

The city’s bicycle plan, Bike Fairfax City, recommends a network of neighborways throughout Fairfax City. The Neighborway Design Guidelines will help inform the development of these neighborways. 

Neighborways are defined as low-speed, low-volume streets optimized for bicycling with signs, pavement markings, and/or traffic calming. These treatments may also benefit residents, pedestrians, and drivers along the corridor by calming traffic and encouraging safe and predictable travel behavior.  

The Plantation Parkway Neighborway project is proposing a concept plan for Plantation Parkway based on the existing conditions along this corridor and the goals and performance targets outlined in the draft Neighborway Design Guidelines.
