Enclosed is the form for filing your Business Return of Tangible Personal Property, Machinery and Tools and Instructions.
Your attention is directed to the requirement that supporting worksheets be submitted with the filing. Returns submitted without worksheets will be considered incomplete and may be returned to you for completion. The required completed return is due on or before May 1, to avoid late penalties. Postal Postmark (not postage meter) will determine filing date on mailed returns.
Three separate supporting worksheets are required:
- for all furniture, fixtures and non-computer equipment reported in Part 1;
- for all computer equipment reported in Part 2; and
- for all leased personal property in your possession on January 1, showing effective date and cost of lease along with the name and address of the lessor.
The supporting worksheets must contain a detailed listing of items owned on January 1, with original purchase cost and the date of acquisition, including all property, which the expense deduction was elected under Section 179 of the Internal Revenue Code in lieu of depreciation.
To assure completeness and accuracy, identify and describe any dispositions of previously acquired property (showing original cost, acquisition date and disposal date).
