Dear Citizen,
The employees of the Public Works Department strive to provide efficient, cost-effective and high quality services to the citizens of the City of Fairfax. The largest department in the City of Fairfax, consisting of four divisions, Public Works is responsible for functions that keep the City operating.
The Administration and Engineering Division is located in the Annex Building at City Hall. Along with myself, this division includes the City Engineer, Stormwater Resources Engineer and Facilities Inspectors. The division oversees general administrative and personnel responsibilities, prepares the department's budgets, addresses environmental issues relating to stormwater and floodplain management and oversees construction of many City projects. Right-of-way and hauling permits are all processed through this office.
The Operations Division is located at the City's Property Yard on Pickett Road and includes City fleet and facilities maintenance, refuse and recycling, right-of-way beautification and the maintenance and operation of the City cemetery.
The Streets Division is responsible for asphalt, concrete, storm drainage and snow removal. This Division is also located at the City Property Yard.
The Transportation Division director is located in the Administration and Engineering Division office at City Hall. The rest of this division - the CUE bus system and the street signs and traffic signals functions and are located at the City's Property Yard on Pickett Road.
Please take a look at the many services and information on this web site and contact Public Works with any questions, corrections or comments.
Sincerely,
David Summers, Director
