Join Fairfax County Public Library librarians Suzanne LaPierre and Chris Barbuschak as they speak about their new book Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries. Learn about the major civil rights activists who successfully desegregated local public libraries during the Jim Crow era. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing. - From her book We Are Your Children Too: Black Students, White Supremacists, and the Battle for America's Schools in Prince Edward County, Virginia, the author discusses the county's five-year closure of all public schools in massive resistance to the Supreme Court's ruling in Brown v.
