The story is a unique opportunity to introduce children to opera and the art of storytelling through the power of words and music.
The VA Opera presents an interactive 35-minute opera which tells the real-life story of Mariana Morillo Safa, a young girl living in Mexico City and her friendship with famed painter, Frida Kahlo. Mariana has her portrait painted by Ms. Kahlo and learns two important lessons in the process: that art can happen anywhere and how important it is to be brave even when you feel scared.
