Co-sponsored by the Historical Society of Fairfax County.  FREE.

Local authors Etta Willson, Rita Colbert, Linneall Naylor, Rondia Prescott, with Jenee Lindner, will discuss the research and family histories brought together in this book that spans pre-Civil War through today.  The underlying  focus of this book is community: local black families whose roots stemmed from free black and enslaved people, who survived by building their communities and finding strength through family, friends, church and education.

Welcome by Mayor Catherine Read.

Following the panel discussion, the audience will be asked to share their personal stories to continue the engagement, learning, and understanding of our historically black communities.
