Community Meeting: Zoning Standards for Accessory Dwelling Units

This project potentially expanding what types of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are allowed.

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are a separate living quarters located within, or on the property of, another house. ADUs are full dwellings, containing both kitchen and bathroom facilities. They're called "accessory" because they're subordinate in size to the main house.

Currently, accessory dwelling units are only allowed to be attached to the primary residence and occupied be either those who are over 55 and/or those with disabilities.

City Council asked staff to investigate the possibility of relaxing the occupancy standards and also whether or not to allow detached Accessory Dwelling Units.

We invite you to provide input at the community meeting at 6 p .m. Nov. 21 at Historic Blenheim.
