Tree Giveaway! Order a free tree for your home Oct. - Dec. 2024

Help bring trees to your neighborhood.

Everyone deserves the benefits of trees. Trees clean the air, provide shade, fight climate impacts like extreme heat, and improve the health of our community. With funding from the U.S. Forest Service, the City of Fairfax's Urban Forestry program is excited to offer no-cost trees to residents each spring and fall as part of an effort to improve tree equity in city neighborhoods.

Residents who plant a set of two trees are eligible for credit on their stormwater utility fee.

2024 Giveaway Season

Get a free tree on us! This fall, we're distributing over 270 native trees to city residents through the Arbor Day Foundation's Community Canopy program. With this program, residents can order trees online from a list of pre-selected native species, while supplies last. Trees will be shipped at no-cost directly to residents' homes between October 15 and December 20, according to when orders are placed. Planting and care instructions from the Arbor Day Foundation are included in each tree package.

Eligibility

This year's tree giveaway is open to select city neighborhoods by census tract group based on environmental and socioeconomic indicators from U.S. EPA's EJScreen dataset. View the map below or search for your address to see if you are eligible to participate this season. Eligible areas are mapped in green.
