The Office of Historic Resources offers unique opportunities to work with and educate the public about the city’s historic sites and regional history, and assist travelers with information. Volunteer applications are accepted year-round, and introductory orientation sessions (the first step for volunteers) are scheduled periodically.
The next orientation will be Fall of 2024 (date TBD.) If interested, please contact Cami St. Germain at cami.st.germain@fairfaxva.gov or (703) 691-3691.
In the Fall we will be seeking volunteers for the following positions:
1) Visitor Desk Volunteers- welcoming guests at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center (greatest need weekends), or Historic Blenheim. This position requires a twice monthly commitment on a set schedule.
2) Docents (tour guides) for Ratcliffe-Allison-Pozer House (greatest need - Saturday afternoons) and Historic Blenheim. Training is provided.
We are not seeking applications for administrative, research or collections volunteers at this time.
Volunteers should be age 18 and up.
Occasionally, younger volunteers are scheduled for assisting at special events - if you are under 18, contact cami.st.germain@fairfaxva.gov about special event opportunities.
A Volunteer Application can be obtained by emailing cami.st.germain@fairfaxva.gov
