The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) is an advisory group to the City of Fairfax City Council, consisting of 14 members and representatives who may serve for terms of up to three years per each appointment. The board is advisory in nature only and has no authority for operations.

Responsibilities of the board include:

  • the study and recommendation to City Council of a well-rounded park and recreation program, acquisition and development
  • ensuring adequate coordination of all matters affecting policy of joint community use of schools in accordance with agreements between the school board and City Council
  • providing consideration to implementation and financing in coordination with the city's Parks and Recreation Department
