Requirements and Limitations
- Community garden plots are limited to one (1) plot per household, regardless of garden location.
Plots may be shared with co-gardeners, however, all primary gardeners (renters) must meet the limitations and residency requirements.

Plot rentals for the calendar year begin.
New plot rentals to customers currently waitlisted begin - subject to plot availability - and continue throughout the year as availability occurs.

Plot rental renewals for the next calendar year begin.

Plot rental renewals for the next calendar year are due.*
*Gardeners currently renting a plot receive priority and advanced opportunity to renew their current plot, which remains reserved for renewal opportunity until the renewal deadline or within thirty (30) days of notice to renew.

- Community garden plot fees are due in full annually at the time of rental renewals and upon any new rentals.
- Security deposits are only required one (1) time and may be refunded in full upon request and decision to leave the program, provided the primary gardener (renter) is in good standing (no outstanding balances or issues present).

Composting
Fairfax City Environment & Sustainability, in coordination with the Refuse and Recycling Division of the Fairfax City Public Works Department, has launched a 24-hour composting center for residents and those employed within the City of Fairfax.
Please Note: Composting material dropped off in the composting center bins must be placed in approved certified, compostable bags; please see the Composting Center webpage for more details.

Free Mulch
Free mulch - subject to availability - may be picked up at the Fairfax County (I-66) Transfer Station, located at 4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
