The City is responsible for maintenance of all public streets within the city. Maintenance is performed by in-house Asphalt and Concrete Crews and by contract personnel. Maintenance contracts are managed by the Street Superintendent.

Maintenance activities of the Concrete Crew include repair and replacement of concrete curbs and gutters, highway medians, driveway entrance aprons and sidewalks.

Maintenance activities of the Asphalt Crew include filling of potholes, repairs to deteriorated sections of streets and grading of gravel shoulders.

Contract crews do concrete replacement, pavement overlays of entire streets, and maintenance of brick sidewalks.

New Sidewalk

New Curb Cuts
To request a new curb cut contact the office of the facilities inspector at 703.385.7828 or by email Billi.Guillen@fairfaxva.gov

New Curb and Gutter
To request curb and gutters contact the Streets Superintendent at 703.385.7828 or email. Requests for new curb and gutter will be considered in conjunction with storm drainage requests.

Dead Animals
To have a dead animal in the road removed call 703.385.7980. If you live in Fairfax County, please call Fairfax County Animal Control 703.691.2131.

Streetlight Out
Most city streetlights are maintained by Dominion Virginia Power. To report electric streetlights that are not working or that remain on during the daytime call the street division at 703.385.7980 and they will report it to DVP.  It is important to get an exact location and a pole number if possible when reporting outages. For gas lights in Old Town Fairfax call 703.385.7995 (For traffic signals call 703.385.7987)

New Streetlight
