High-level concept plans have been developed for the projects listed below. City Council will review public feedback when considering endorsement of the funding applications. Visit Engage Fairfax to learn more about the projects and share your thoughts.

Chain Bridge Road Shared Use Path

This project will construct a missing link of path on the west side of Chain Bridge Road between Assembly Drive and Northfax Street (formerly Orchard Street). The new trail section would connect north to the shared use path being constructed as part of the Eaton Place/Chain Bridge Road intersection improvements.

Northfax East-West Roadway

This project would construct a new east-west roadway between the University Drive roundabout at the Point 50 shopping center and Chain Bridge Road.

Fern Street Neighborhood Connection

The project would construct a new biking and walking connection between Route 29 and Park Road in the Westmore neighborhood. The path and landscaping improvements would be installed in the grassy area owned by the city, adjacent to the Fairfax Junction shopping center parking lot.

First and Second Street Sidewalks

This project includes construction of sidewalks and curb and gutter on First Street between Hallman Street and Oak Street and on Second Street between Walnut Street and Oak Street.

Dwight Avenue Improvements

This project would make the intersection of Roberts Road and Dwight Avenue safer to navigate. Sidewalks would be installed on Dwight Avenue between Roberts Road and Orchard Drive to improve pedestrian safety. Curb and gutter would be installed along this same section to contain stormwater runoff to the roadway and prevent it from flowing onto private property.
