May Bike Month Events

May is National Bike Month! Help Fairfax celebrate by participating in one of our fabulous events. But don't stop there. Encourage your friends and family to get out and ride along with you! Start by sharing the event flyer with them!

Interested in volunteering for one of these events to help make Fairfax a healthier, more sustainable city? Sign up to staff one of these events or email chloe.ritter@fairfaxva.gov to get more information on how to help us pass out our flyers to spread the word.


Fairfax Art Bike Ride

When: Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. to noon (postponed from earlier date due to inclement weather)
Where: Old Town Square (10414 North St.)

Join the Transportation Division for a casual-paced 7.5 mile bike ride to explore art pieces found around the city. Helmets and waivers are required for all participants. After the ride, have lunch at one of the great restaurants in Old Town Fairfax with fellow Fairfax bikers. Register for free to receive updates about the event.

Bike to Work Day

When: Friday, May 17, 6 - 9 a.m.
Where: Old Town Square (10414 North St.)

This annual event is a favorite among new and experienced cyclists! Register for FREE and get a free t-shirt, giveaway goodies, and be entered into a raffle to win prizes!

CANCELED - Kids Safety Day at the Antique Car Show - CANCELED

When: CANCELED - Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where:  CANCELED -Fairfax City Hall, 10455 Armstrong St.

Stop by Kids Safety Day on May 18 at Fairfax City Hall! Alongside the Antique Car Show, staff from the city’s transportation, fire, and police departments will be conducting fun safety activities for kids including a pop-up traffic garden and traffic safety trivia.

The National Bike Month Challenge from Love to Ride

The Bike Month Challenge takes place throughout May and is a celebration of biking and fun competition between communities and workplaces to see which can get the most co-workers, friends and family to try riding a bike during May.
